  Hi All---
I'm writing this with absolutely no intention of being unkind, rude, or angry----I'm not trying to stomp on anyone's creative dreams, or pick on anyone in particular.  Truth is, I've been really busy lately, and I haven't had time to reply to each inquiry note I get.
So here's my blanket policy statement, and a request---Please read it before you contact me about a potential project:

Please stop writing me to ask if I'll draw your creator-owned project that you've written that you'd like me to draw for free.  I appreciate that you believe in your work, and that you believe that this will benefit us both, but the cold truth is this:  I do not work for free.  Illustration is a job for me.  I am a professional illustrator, and I have a family to support.  Free work is something that I just can't do, and it's inappropriate to ask me to do so.

I'm going to leave this journal posted here for a while, so it will be seen, and hopefully absorbed.  This is my permanent policy, so please respect it.  I truly appreciate everyone that takes an interest in my work, and I'm happy that anyone would wish to work with me, but I will not work for free.  If you'd like to ask about my rates, and potential interest in a project that meets those rates, please feel free to email me at graphitemonkey@gmail.com.

Thank you, and thanks for stopping by my gallery,
  Drew

The amount of people in this world that look down upon art and illustration as if it's something that can be pulled out of our sleeve is just astounding. The nerve.
