This weeks warm up drawing, done a little at a time before starting the days work. The excellent Black Canary. 11x17 on DC rough surface bristol board, drawn with a 4h lead and a Sakura electric eraser.
Beautiful!! You have drawn a very sexy and confident Black Canary here ... a character, that is a favorite of mine, but I feel doesn't get enough attention. I've never seen her with an overcoat like that before, I think it's a nice touch, especially the way you have it blowing in the wind.
It's just a 4h pencil. I scan it, and clean it up just a little bit, but that's all. I think it just comes out looking like that, 'cause I'm obsessive and my linework is very finished and tight.
A 2h is going to scan darker than my 4h---I use the 4h 'cause it doesn't smear as much, and keeps the drawing cleaner---But you may not like it, 'cause it feels a bit like you're drawing with a needle. Just figured you should have fair warning---Most people think I'm crazy for using it My wife, who's an animator, usually draws with a 2B, and loves to laugh at me about it.
Thank you I really appreciate that you took time to answer my questions. Because i have asked little things like these to other artists and they just told me to buzz off and i thank you for that.
PS; Sorry i wrote the wrong hardness of the lead i use 3h with exception of 2h in my mechanical pencil
